Lead Gym
Bots bid a random deal, you find the best opening lead: every card is scored double-dummy across layouts that match the bidding
The Lead Gym is a free opening lead trainer: bots bid a random deal and you pick the card to lead. It suits every level, from a beginner learning lead rules to a tournament player testing close choices. Your grade is the double-dummy result of your card across the layouts that fit the auction, so a top lead is the one that works most often and not the one that worked once.

How the Lead Gym grades an opening lead
The Lead Gym deals a random hand, four bots bid it, and you choose the opening lead. BridgeDummy then generates deals that fit that auction and runs double dummy analysis on every one, so each card in your hand gets a score: how often it beats the contract at IMPs, or how many tricks it costs at matchpoints.
It is free and unlimited: no diamonds, no daily cap. Beginners read the star rating; stronger players compare the card-by-card table and the sampled layouts.
Lead Gym questions
- Is the Lead Gym free?
- Yes. Every deal in the Lead Gym is free and there is no daily limit. A free BridgeDummy account is enough.
- How is my opening lead scored?
- Your 13 cards stay fixed and the other three hands are re-dealt to match the bidding. Each layout is solved double dummy, and every card you could lead is scored across all of them, so the grade reflects the auction, not one lucky deal.
- Which bidding system do the bots use?
- 2/1 Game Force by default for both sides. You can pick a different system for your side and for the opponents before dealing.
- How is this different from lead puzzles?
- Puzzles are curated hands graded against at least 1,000 simulated deals, with stars and ELO. The Lead Gym is unlimited random practice: faster, no scoring on your record, same double dummy grading.
