Reading Your Progress Stats

Your Progress Page at a Glance

Your progress page is the single best place to understand how you are growing as a bridge player. It pulls together everything from total puzzles solved to your daily streak, category performance, challenge ELO, league tier, and achievements - all in one view.

Think of it as your personal dashboard. Your scored puzzle results feed into these numbers, so over time you get a clear picture of your strengths, your weaknesses, and where to focus next.

Level and Points

At the top of your progress page you will see your current level and a progress bar showing how close you are to the next one. Your level is based on points earned from scored puzzle answers.

Points come from solving regular practice puzzles, Daily Challenge puzzles, friend challenge puzzles, and Weekly League puzzles. The bar fills up as you earn more, and each new level requires a bit more effort than the last. It is a simple way to see your overall trajectory at a glance.

Category Breakdowns: Where You Shine and Where You Struggle

Below the general stats, you will find your performance broken down into eight categories: Lead, Bidding, Matchpoints, IMPs, and the four specific combinations (Lead MP, Lead IMP, Bidding MP, Bidding IMP). Each card shows how many puzzles you have solved in that category and your average star rating.

This is where things get really useful. If your Lead IMP average is sitting at 1.8 stars but your Bidding MP is at 2.6, you know exactly which area needs work. BridgeDummy also highlights your weakest category automatically in the Focus Area section, so you never have to do the comparison yourself.

The Focus Area only activates once you have solved at least 3 puzzles in a category. That way the recommendation is based on real data, not a single lucky or unlucky attempt. Clicking it takes you straight to puzzles filtered for that category.

Streaks: Building Consistency

Your day streak counts how many consecutive days you have solved at least one puzzle. It resets if you skip a day, so it rewards consistency over cramming.

The progress page currently shows your puzzle-solving day streak. Even a short daily habit adds up over time - players who maintain a streak tend to improve faster simply because they stay engaged.

Challenge ELO and League Stats

Your Challenge ELO is a competitive rating that starts at 1500. Friend challenges move it up or down based on the result and the opponent's rating: beating a higher-rated opponent is worth more, while losing to a lower-rated player costs more. Daily Challenge bonuses and Weekly League tier changes can also move this rating.

Your friend challenge record (wins, losses, ties) and win rate are shown alongside your ELO so you can track both your rating and your raw results. The weekly league section shows your current tier, highest tier reached, and total weeks played - a longer-term view of your competitive progress.

Achievements: Milestones Worth Celebrating

The achievement gallery at the bottom of your progress page shows badges you have earned and hints at what is coming next. Achievements are grouped by rarity: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. They cover milestones like solving your first puzzle, reaching 100 solves, and maintaining long streaks.

BridgeDummy shows your nearest unearned achievement with a progress bar, so you always have a concrete short-term goal. Whether it is earning 50 stars or completing your first daily challenge, these markers keep practice feeling rewarding even when the puzzles are tough.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does my average star rating mean?

Each scored puzzle awards 1 to 5 stars based on how well you performed. Your average stars overall, or within a specific category, shows your typical accuracy. A higher average means you are consistently picking strong answers.

How is the Focus Area recommendation chosen?

BridgeDummy looks at Lead MP, Lead IMP, Bidding MP, and Bidding IMP, then picks the one with the lowest average star rating once you have solved at least 3 puzzles there. It links directly to practice puzzles for that area.

Does my Challenge ELO affect which puzzles I see?

No. Challenge ELO measures competitive results and bonuses, but it does not choose which regular, daily, or league puzzles you see.

What happens to my streak if I miss a day?

Your current day streak resets to zero if you go a full UTC day without solving at least one puzzle. Your earned achievements remain saved, so streak milestones you already unlocked stay on your account.
