Bridge Training

Practice the four skills that decide most boards: bidding, opening leads, declarer play and defense. Every decision is scored against optimal play, so you improve from real feedback instead of guesswork.

Choose what to train

Each area has a free trainer you can use right now, puzzles that score your answers, and an article that explains the theory behind the feedback.

Opening lead practice

The opening lead is the most important single card on defense. In the Lead Gym the bots bid a random deal and you choose the lead; every card is scored double-dummy across layouts that match the auction, so you see exactly how many tricks each choice costs.

Defense practice

Good defense starts with the lead and continues with counting and signalling. Lead puzzles in the Daily Challenge show how much each choice costs in tricks; the defense article covers the habits that turn good leads into defeated contracts.

How the training works

  1. Make the decision

Bid, lead or play a card exactly as you would at the table. Nothing is multiple choice in disguise: you see the auction and your hand, and you decide.

  2. Get an objective score

Every option is evaluated by double-dummy analysis over many layouts that fit the auction. You see the best choice, how far yours was from it, and sample hands that explain the difference.

  3. Track your progress

Stars, a rating per puzzle type, streaks and mistake review show where you are improving and which area still needs work.

Bridge training FAQ

Is bridge training on BridgeDummy free?

Yes. The Bidding Gym, Lead Gym, Declarer Trainer and all calculators are free with unlimited use. Puzzles, the Daily Challenge and the Weekly League use diamonds, and every account gets a free monthly allowance.

Do I need an account?

The Declarer Trainer and the calculators work without one. The gyms and puzzles need a free account so your results, rating and streaks can be saved.

How are my answers scored?

Each option is evaluated with double-dummy analysis across many deals that are consistent with the auction. The score reflects the real trick or matchpoint cost of each choice, not one expert's opinion.

Which skill should I train first?

Opening leads. It is the highest-value single decision in bridge and the fastest to improve when every lead gets immediate feedback. Bidding comes next: it decides which contract you play in on every board.

Can I train with my partner?

Yes. Bidding Challenges let two players bid the same boards asynchronously, then see how each contract scores against the field.
