Get Personalized Advice from Real Experts

Sometimes you run into a hand that puzzles you long after the session ends. Maybe you are not sure if your bidding was right, or you want a second opinion on a tricky opening lead. That is exactly what Ask an Expert is for.

BridgeDummy lets you submit questions directly to national-level bridge players. You describe your situation, and a real expert writes back with detailed, personalized analysis. No generic tips - just advice tailored to your specific hand.

How to Submit a Question

Open the Ask an Expert page from the navigation or your profile menu. You will see a simple form with three sections: hand details, bidding sequence, and your question text. Only the question text is required - the other two sections are optional but highly recommended.

Type your question into the text box (up to 500 characters). When you are ready, hit Submit. The cost is 30 diamonds per question, and there is no limit on how many you can ask. Your diamonds are deducted instantly when you submit.

Add Context for Better Answers

The more context you provide, the better the expert's answer will be. You can optionally include the hands for any or all four positions at the table using the built-in card selector. Just expand the Hand Details section and pick the cards.

You can also add a bidding sequence. Expand the Bidding Sequence section to set the dealer, vulnerability, and scoring mode (Matchpoints or IMPs), then build the auction step by step. Including this kind of detail helps the expert understand exactly what happened and why.

What Makes a Good Question

The best questions are specific. Instead of asking "Was my bid right?" try something like "With this hand at favorable vulnerability, should I have overcalled 2S or passed?" Give the expert enough to work with.

Focus on one decision point per question. If you have multiple questions about the same hand, it is fine to submit them separately. Keep your question clear and concise - you have 500 characters, which is plenty for a focused question.

Finding Your Answers

After you submit, your question goes into a queue with a Pending status. You can check on all your questions at any time by visiting the My Questions page, which is linked right from the Ask an Expert form.

When an expert replies, the status changes to Answered and you will see a notification badge in the navigation. Open the My Questions page, expand the question, and the expert's full response appears in a highlighted box. The badge clears automatically once you read the answer.

A Faster Path to Improvement

Puzzles and practice are great for building habits, but sometimes you need a human perspective. Ask an Expert bridges that gap by connecting you with experienced players who can explain the reasoning behind the right play.

Combined with BridgeDummy's puzzles, daily challenges, and simulations, expert Q&A gives you a complete toolkit for improving your bridge game - from drilling fundamentals to getting high-level strategic advice.
